sorry about the old tutorials from [info]exquisite_flaws (i'm sort of doing a switch over, so bear with the extra posts please)

- Changing Extensions -

I found multiple sources that told me this..

a] You can also change the extensions of .jbr or .abr file
to use your brushes in either ps or psp..

b] Extract the brush or brushes out of a zip into a folder or if they are not zipped
place them all in a folder together so when you place them in your ps or psp brush folder its easier to do..

c] right click on the .abr or .jbr file and simply change the extentions
from .jbr too .abr by typing in the appropriate extension..
the same applies to change .abr to .jbr

d] Make note: Psp brushes must be a maxium size of 255 x 255 pixels in psp 5, 6 and 7
If a Ps (.abr) brush is larger then that, they will not open or work in psp, the size of the brush must be changed in Ps first,
Then you can change the extension and use it in Psp..."

Hi, found you through a link from [info]icon_help. How exactly do I go about changing the extentsion? All that happens is I'm able to rename the file. Am I totally missing something? Thanks :)

I have much more extensive explanations on converting and cross-compatibility of Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro brushes here:
http://www.inxplicable.org/design/brushtutpg2.html

You might want to take a look, since some of the info you have is actually incorrect.

I think the squidge FAQ you mentioned is probably mine - but the old version at the old site (it was on Squidge.org). The new one is updated to include PSP 8 and PS 6-7 compatibility.
